Claude V. Palisca (1921-2001) was one of the leading musicologists of the 20th century. Born in what is now Rijeka, Croatia, he settled in the United States, and was educated at Queens College (CUNY) and Harvard University. He spent most of his career on the faculty of the Department of Music of Yale University.
